A. Yes. Tesla Powerwall 3 can be connected to any solar system.
Q. Do I need to have solar panels to install a Tesla Powerwall 3?
A. You can have a Tesla Powerwall 3 without solar panels. It will be connected to the grid and function like a generator. When the power goes out, your battery will power your home until the charge is depleted.
*Note: Keep in mind that without solar panels, the battery won’t recharge until the grid power is restored.
Q. Can I get add a battery later if I add solar now?
A. Yes, you can add a battery at any time
Q. How long does a battery last?
A. That will vary on the homeowner’s usage. 1 Telsa Powerwall is 13.5 kwh. This can supply 1 kwh for 13.5 hrs or 13.5 kwh for 1 hour. During a power outage, we highly recommend using your Powerwall 3 to power only essential appliances. We like to call this “camping mode.”
*Note: Even though the grid is down, your Powerwall 3 will still recharge when the sun is shining.
